Instructions for your entry:
  • Read the prompt carefully noticing all requirements for the entry.
  • Plan your response in your journal first. Blog-only answers may not receive credit.
  • Read existing posts before creating your own to avoid posting the same idea. If someone has already taken your idea, don't simply post it again. Instead, respond to the previous post, adding information, giving new examples, or expanding upon the idea.

Entry 15:
Explain the use of the motto of the World Sate:  “Community, Identify, Stability.”  Be sure to show how the motto is used for the purpose of the state. Then, create a “motto” for contemporary American society – your world.  Explain your choice (use the same parallel structure).  BLOG: Then, post your response to the blog and read/reply to one that is already posted.  While blogs may seem informal, they require that you edit and revise before you PUBLISH. In your Journal, write the blog entry and revise it. Then, post the entry on the website if you have online access. http://crhs-summerreading.blogspot.com/ (use the AP English Literature posts).

    Nationalism, Individualism, Strength

Nationalism- Although the US is composed of millions of individuals, each person draws pride from being an American.

Individualism- America is often referred to as a "melting pot" or "salad bowl." This means that people of many different cultures and backgrounds call the US home. They may all be American, but they still stay true to their origins.

Strength- As a people, we draw strength from knowing ourselves. We are a combination of individuals living in a powerful nation.

    Freedom, Passion, Strife

Freedom and passion give the American people a reason to strive. America has a great deal of work ethic because the freedom of our country enables us to work diligently for a better life: a life for us to enjoy our passions without the worry of monetary values. However, without some passion in our lives to begin with, our work ethic would suffer severely. We wouldn't have any desire to work, thus not striving to create a better life for ourselves and our families. All three of these ideas play off each other to establish our American culture.

    Hannah,
Your post is most thought provoking and interesting. I very much agree with your motto and I firmly believe it sums up the American culture. Excellent work!
